One of the things I am most thankful to my mom for is teaching me how to handle money and to be an overall frugal person (Michael might choose a different adjective though!) But Wes has always been interested in money (what kid isn't?) and we figured it was best to start teaching him to be responsible with his money as early as possible. We decided to teach him the Give Save Spend concept of handling his money and gave him three mason jars to keep it all in (lids and labels courtesy of Etsy). We're not quite ready for allowance and chores and that sort of thing, but he's really good at helping out when we're recycling our cans and bottles, so hopefully the lesson will sink in quickly!
