Let the Birthday Festivities Begin!

We always like celebrations to last several days around here, so we figured we'd start celebrating Wesley's second birthday on Thursday (plus Daddy was working Friday the 1st, Wes' actual birthday, so we didn't want him to miss out on the cupcakes!)

Thursday morning we spent baking cupcakes together. It's nice that two year olds have no problem helping make their own birthday cakes! Wes' favorite job was lining the cupcake tins, he lined and unlined them at least 3 times.

And of course the traditional "licking of the beaters."

But not a big fan actually.
That's ok, more for mommy. It's ok to eat raw eggs when you're pregnant right??? :)


And later that afternoon, mommy added some homemade chocolate frosting (nothing is better than homemade frosting in my opinion) and Wes added a healthy dose of sprinkles.

Then we sang Happy Birthday a day early.

(Don't ask me why there's only one candle on his cupcake, maybe my subconscious is acting out by saying there's no way my little guy can be 2 already! Think it was more that Wes was not waiting much longer to sink his teeth into that cupcake and we had to hurry up or there wasn't going to be a song or a candle.)
