Summer in November

Our bizarre weather has continued here in Orange County with a couple of days in the high 90's. So we decided to take advantage and break in Wes' new bike seat that I bought practically brand new at a garage sale. Mike picked up a tiny bike helmet on his way home from work then we packed up and headed down to the beach.

He absolutely loved the bike seat. He wasn't a big fan of the helmet at first, but once we started riding, he forgot all about it!

We rode to a deli in Balboa and picked up some sandwhiches and then rode down to the Wedge and had a picnic lunch.

It was hot, but it was a beautiful day.

On the way back through Balboa we stopped and had a frozen banana. This is one of our favorite treats, and with how much Wes loves bananas, we knew he'd love it too!

And we were right, after the first bite, he wasn't interested in sharing anymore!

The Giants Win!!!

Michael and I are big San Francisco Giants fans! So many people ask how in the world two people born and raised in Southern California, which has two MLB teams, could be Giants fans!?! It all started when I was based in San Francisco and we fell in love with the city, the team and especially AT&T park! We were able to see lots of games during the years that I was based there and while I'm glad to now be based in Los Angeles (and very glad to be on furlough!) we definitely miss going to the games. But we were able to watch a lot of games on TV this season and absolutely loved cheering them on in the playoffs and the World Series. As Michael loves reminding everyone: Here's to the 2010 MLB World Series Champions the San Francisco Giants!!

Daddy and Wes watching the final game. I promise we didn't make him sit with the hat like that for more than a second!

Daddy is already planning for a repeat!

Here's a picture of us at AT&T Park from many moons ago, 2006!

Happy Birthday Auntie Madison!

This post is a little overdue since Madison's birthday was in September, but we had fun helping her celebrate at Harry's Pacific Grill in Temecula!

We love you Auntie Madison!

Thanks to Grandpa for keeping Wes out of the fountain!

Semper Fi

Last Saturday we stopped to support our local Marines at their car wash fundraiser at the Fair Grounds. (For those of you who know me, don't laugh!) We got to check out a super cool Hummer and a huge truck and several guns. We are so thankful to all the men and women who serve our country!

Wes was so excited to check out this huge truck. He kept asking for more truck...
...but when this Marine let him check it out he realized it was way too far away from Mommy!

More Please

A couple of weeks ago I took Wesley to the Sugar Plum Fair at the Fair Grounds and we found these old school Tupperware kids cups. How I managed to buy tupperware at a handmade arts and crafts show, I do not know! But my mom had these cups when I was a kid, so I had to have them for Wes. And they are now his main drinking vessel of choice!

I've been teaching Wesley basic sign language since he was little and for right now, he uses it as his main form of communication. I think he's going to be the strong silent type! Here we are using the new cups to show you more please:

Happy Halloween!

On Halloween Grandma Susie invited everyone over to her house for dinner and lots of trick-or-treating fun!

Here's my little cowboy tipping his hat and saying "Howdy Ma'am"

Nothing in there quite yet!

Giddy up little pony!

A lobster and a cowboy, we make a great pair!

Wes and Gia, I mean, Alice in Wonderland

The whole group before heading out:
Brenda and Evan, Auntie Jessica and Cash (Evan and Cash were matching alligators), Gia (Alice in Wonderland) and Haley (an Eskimo) and me and Wes.

Wes loved trick-or-treating. He wouldn't carry his pumpkin, but he walked right up to the doors with his cousins.

He loved picking something from people's candy baskets. The concept of 'one per person' was not sinking in at all!

How much fun is this?!?

Wes finished the night off with a delicious cookie and mommy finished the night off with a basket full of candy! What a night, we had so much fun!

My First Jack-o-Lantern!

Wesley hasn't had a really good "first" in a while, so Mike and I were excited to carve into this pumpkin with him!

Not surprising, he had to try to pick it up first.

Mike and Wes discussing their design concept.

It took some convincing but he finally stuck his hand inside.

This is actually Wes putting the seeds back inside the pumpkin! He loved playing with the pumpkin innards once they were in the bowl. I sorted the seeds with the thought of roasting them, but Wes figured scattering them all over the kitchen was a much better idea. Oh well, roasted pumpkin seeds next year!

Excellent carving skills Daddy!
We wanted a nice and happy Jack-o-Lantern.

And it was even cooler with the lights off.
Happy Halloween everyone!
