My Baby is 1!

Wow! This year has gone by shockingly fast! But I have enjoyed every minute of it (despite complaining of lack of sleep, lack of spare time, and lack of floor space that wasn't covered in baby toys.) Seeing Wesley grow and change and develop has been a true joy for Michael and I, and it's just amazing how drastically our lives have changed yet we can't imagine life without him. It's an unspeakable blessing and responsibility to be parents and we are so greatful to the Lord for our son. Happy Birthday Buddy!

Here is how we spent July 1st, 2010:
Wes woke up and got to open this present from mom and dad.

He loves wrapping paper (and all paper in general).

A Tonka truck just like dad had when he was little!

After a nap, we went to Irvine park for some play time and a picnic lunch.

Swinging with dad.

What a handsome face!

Looking for the perfect spot for lunch.

Feed me!

Such a gentleman, legs crossed and everything!

Wes is really into soccer right now, maybe it's World Cup fever. He loves kicking his bouncy balls and he is actually pretty coordinated too!

After lunch we went to the zoo that's inside the park. It's a pretty neat little place and for $2 bucks you just can't beat it :) This is the California black bear (it's off to the right) and we got to watch it eat it's lunch. Good timing we had!

Wes liked this goat that was inside it's cage.

But he did not like this goat in the petting zoo. He didn't like all the noise it was making and even shed a few tears. But it was getting to be nap time, so his patience was a little thin.

After a good nap and some dinner, this birthday cake was on the menu!

(He already likes fire, so maybe he'll be following his dad and grandpa into the fire service)

This is a sugar-free banana cake which to us was really bland, but Wes didn't seem to mind and ate several bites.

He definitely enjoyed tearing it apart though!

Most of the cake ended up on the floor, but it was so much fun to watch him have so much fun! We love you Wesley, Happy 1st Birthday!
Remember July 1st 2009?
